Old House-New House

Well, family, this is it--the transition to the new house. In this folder there were a few pictures from the old house (first day of school pictures, one last slumber party in the girls' room), a few from the new house. One thing that I love about these pictures is gaining insight into what caught Daddy's fancy--what made him go grab his camera for a picture. There are the posed memories of hikes and the first day of school, of course, but there's also the sitting around and talking, the playing in the backyard, and all of the sleeping pictures. For a busy young lawyer working long hours in Los Angeles, I'm guessing that the sleeping pictures are often the scene greeting him when he came home. Daddy, what do you have to say? What did you particularly enjoy photographing?

Good Little Hikers!

Was this the year of our hike to Andrew's Glacier? That was one of my most vivid childhood memories. I even remember the cream cheese-and-jam bagels that Mama packed for lunch that we ate in a cave during a snow flurry.

The Last Days of Palm Drive

If I'm remembering our family's chronology correctly, these are the waning days in our wonderful Palm Drive house. Seven kids, two parents, several generations of hamsters, three bedrooms, two (and a half) bathrooms, a narrow little galley kitchen, and a bursting library full of books--it was time to upgrade. But how I loved that house!

Thoughts about these pictures:
--Way to use that fancy new dot-matrix printer, Daddy!
--Benjamin, you made your Frandsen debut a couple of folders ago, but I've been trying to find a classic Rachel-and-Jacob-holding-baby-Ben picture. I just can't find it--I guess because there were way too many other siblings who wanted to hold you! Anyway, I thought that a baby Benjamin picture was in order :).
--look at Rachel and Jacob sleeping so peacefully on the playroom floor. Why in the world do I ever stress out about bedtime when I clearly had it under control as a 10 year old?

Summertime Fun

This pricks me--I need to take my girls on more hikes! New babies (or bigger ones) are no excuse! Mama and Daddy, you gave us GREAT outings.

Jacob's First Camp-out

Actually, this was probably Jacob's third or fourth camp-out, but this must have been a priesthood overnight of some sort, because there are lots of pictures in this folder of Jacob and Brigham running around with lots of other little boys. Good times for this big boy!

Twins Just Want To Have Fun

These kids knew how to have a good time. I love the picture of Mama flat on the floor with Rachel face-planted on top of her. With Benjamin still about 2 months old, Mama probably felt run over most of the time...

Happy Birthday, Mara and Lincoln!!!

Wow, what a great day March 25th is. Two cousins in one day (okay, maybe separated by a few years)! We hope you both had delicious, fun birthdays with your families. Here are some pictures of your mom or dad when they were your age. Weren't they cute?

Ouch!!!

Actually, the one really experiencing an ouch is Brigham. Pictures of his impressive encounter with chicken pox to follow. For now, though, enjoy those Dodger T-shirts (we don't have any of those left, do we, Mama?) and that great swing set at the old house.

Let Them Eat Cake

Mama, you also made the best birthday cakes. Look at that creation for the twins! And doesn't Jacob look like such a little boy? I'm guessing that the picture at the Rose Parade was very typical of family outings--Rosalynde holding one baby, Mama holding another, Daddy taking pictures, Gabrielle keeping Brigham in check, and me--well, me getting off scott-free without any responsibilities.

Just One.

One picture is all we need for this stage of our family life. Mama is now pregnant with Benjamin (7 months), and I'm guessing that this is all the sleep she gets these days.

Sparse Folder

So this folder didn't have that many twin pictures. But those tortuga t-shirts are looking bright and new!

This is my day, my baptism day.

And it was! This was the trip during which I was baptized in that Utah canal. So this would have been summer 1986. Looks like Rachel's got a thing for off-roading :).

Chubby Little Knees

Did the twins ever go through an un-cute phase? I am dying over Rachel's cowboy boots and Jacob's knee socks. Mama, you knew how to dress your babies.
